Sundance Episodic Lab Finalist

My crime drama pilot ‘New Cut Road’ has moved forward into Finalist contention for the Sundance Institute’s Episodic Lab 2021.

The project centers around a young Latina political activist led astray by an ex-Marine turned small-time criminal, wrapping her up in a convoluted bank robbing scheme, all told in an inventive non-linear timeline. With overtones of class-consciousness and modern politics, ‘New Cut Road’ takes viewers on a harrowing ride through organized crime in the American South.

Launched in 2014, the Sundance Episodic Program is an entry point and sustaining force for emerging episodic writers and creators across all platforms. Through a rigorous lab experience and customized year-round support, the program provides artists with the tools, training, and industry access to move their careers forward.

The program offers writers an opportunity to workshop an original pilot, and to develop their writing and pitching skills. Working with accomplished showrunners, the fellows will participate in one-on-one story meetings, craft workshops, and simulated writers’ rooms, which together provide creative and strategic tools for success.

The Sundance Institute Episodic Program is made possible by founding supporters Lyn and Norman Lear and Cindy Harrell Horn and Alan Horn. Leadership supporters are AMC and SundanceTV, Comedy Central, Netflix, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, STARZ, and WarnerMedia.
